Tehreek-e-Hurriyat declared 'Unlawful Association', accused of spreading anti-India propaganda in J&K

Home Minister Amit Shah declared the Kashmiri separatist party Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) an 'Unlawful Association' on December 31. The decision has been taken under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The organisation is allegedly involved in prohibited activities that intends the separation of Jammu and Kashmir from India and emphasises the establishment of Islamic rule.

Sharing a post on social media, Amit Shah said, “The ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, J&K (TeH) has been declared an 'Unlawful Association' under UAPA."

“The outfit is involved in forbidden activities to separate J&K from India and establish Islamic rule. The group is found spreading anti-India propaganda and continuing terror activities to fuel secessionism in J&K," the post reads.

The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat has been under scrutiny for long for its alleged involvement in spreading anti-India propaganda and supporting activities that promote secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir. The organisation has also been accused of engaging in terrorist activities to achieve its aim.

“Under PM Narendra Modi Ji’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, any individual or organization found involved in anti-India activities will be thwarted forthwith,” Shah added.
