'Security lapse' during PM Modi's Mumbai visit: Report

Police said that after coming to know about the drone, security agencies were brought into action.

Recently, a case of lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who went to the country's financial capital Mumbai (Mumbai), has come to the fore. Police have registered an FIR against a prominent builder in south Mumbai for allegedly violating certain rules while flying a drone in the city a day before PM Narendra Modi's visit. An official said that the incident took place on Monday in Pedder Road area.

"Since Prime Minister Modi was about to visit the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in the city via Pedder Road the next day (Tuesday), the police had inspected the entire road for security reasons. A local resident informed the police on Monday that he had seen a drone flying in the area.

Police said, "After getting information about this, the officials of Gamdevi police station started investigation to find out who was involved in this activity. Later, it was found that a prominent builder in south Mumbai had used drones for mapping and advertising a plot of land." But he violated some conditions while flying the drone.

Police said that after coming to know about the drone, there was a stir in the security agencies. He said the city police had also kept anti-drone guns ready as a security measure. He said an FIR has been registered against the builder under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for violating the police order. Further investigation is being done in the matter.
