Country’s biggest & longest walk in Aviary Centre of attraction at Punjab's Chhatbir Zoo

The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and guided by Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, remains dedicated to preserving and nurturing the state’s wildlife.

As part of this commitment, several groundbreaking initiatives have been introduced at Chhatbir Zoo.

A major attraction is the country’s largest and longest walk-in aviary, along with an ultra-modern dinosaur park that has been set up to enhance visitor experience.

In the 1,200-meter wildlife safari area, the boundary wall has been reinforced, and a 260 KV solar power plant has been installed to promote sustainability.

To ensure the well-being of animals, a critical care unit has been established at the lion safari for carnivorous species. Additionally, an open-air zoo education plaza has been created to assist visitors, especially school children, in learning about wildlife conservation.

Further, the Indus River Dolphin has been designated as Punjab’s State Aquatic Animal, and 13 wildlife sanctuaries across the state have been declared plastic-free to promote ecological balance.

Moreover, five of Punjab’s wetlands—Harike, Ropar, Kanjhli, Keshopur, and Nangal—have been selected among the top 100 wetlands in India by the Union Government for priority development.
