There was laughter from the treasury benches after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge repeated BJP election slogans 'Ab ki baar 400 paar' in Rajya Sabha.

Kharge, who is the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, was speaking during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address.

Kharge said in jest that the BJP is winning 400 Lok Sabha seats in the Lok Sabha elections. His comment immediately drew smiles and laughter from BJP MPs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was also present in the Upper House was seen smiling at the Congress leader's words.

'You have a strong majority. Earlier it was 330-334, this time you are crossing 400. Sir, it is my challenge. Ask all of them to first win an election and come. They are all here due to Modi's blessings. There are here to clap. I was an MLA, then a Lok Sabha MP and am now a Rajya Sabha MP. These BJP MPs are here because of Modi's blessings and their job is to bang the desk,' Mallikarjun Kharge said.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal then stood up and then said 'Kharge has spoken the truth today.'

'They are blowing their own trumpet. If you are going to get such majority then then why aren't you doing important things. This time you won't even be able to get 100 seats,' Kharge added after Goyal's remark.
