No comment from PM, Home Minister yet: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Parliament security breach

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday slammed the Central government for the security arrangements in Parliament after two people jumped into the Lok Sabha carrying gas cannisters.

Chowdhury even said that such a big lapse happened and there are no statements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shaha on this.

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "The actions that are being taken today should have been done earlier. It was a hasty decision to move from the old Parliament building to the new one, they should have thought about it and planned things accordingly."

"Because of their hasty decision, such an incident took place. Such a big incident happened and so far, there have been no statements from the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister, they are all being silent about this."

He further said, "It seems that they are not even bothered about this. Prime Minister did prayers with a Sengol in the new Parliament but he is not concerned about the security lapse that took place in the new Parliament."

"As a Prime Minister, he should have said something about this and should have been concerned about the security breach. It looks like PM Modi is not even bothered about such things. The top ministers too are not concerned about this."

"The Central government has the attitude of 'what happened, happened and let's leave it' and they are not concerned about this. There should be a proper discussion on this and what caused the security breach and why was there a big lapse."

Congress MP also said, "we are not scared, if we had been scared then we wouldn't have been in the Parliament and stopped the attack. At least, the Central government should praise the MPs for their bravery."

"All the MPs stood there and they did not care if the cannisters would have been bombs, but still they stood there and the bare minimum should have been a praise for the MPs for this."

He concluded by saying, "We daily talk about unemployed people but see, today, the unemployed are behind such an attack. The PM said that we should not get the anger of outside in the Parliament but see now, the people themselves are bringing their rage inside the Parliament."
