Pakistani terrorist among 5 killed in 2 encounters, say J&K police

The terrorists shot down were affiliated to Pakistan-based outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Jammu and Kashmir police claimed a big success after five terrorists were killed in two separate encounters.

The security operations occurred in the intervening night of January 29 and 30, as per reports. The terrorists shot down were affiliated to Pakistan-based outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. One of those killed was Zahid Wani, a Jaish commander. A Pakistani terrorist was also neutralised, as per police.

The anti-terror operations took place in Budgam and Pulwama.

In 2021, security forces claim to have eliminated as many as 182 terrorists in 100 operations. Those killed included 44 top commanders of terror outfits, and 20 foreigners too, as per J&K police. Of the 44 top terrorists, 26 belonged to Lashkar, 10 to Jaish, 7 to Hizbul Mujahideen, and 1 to Al Badr, the police chief was quoted as saying.

DGP Dilbag Singh had also reportedly said that infiltrations from across the border had seen a decline in 2021.
