Karnataka man detained for sharing edited picture of Ram Mandir tagged Babri Masjid

The consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya took place on January 22. Even as celebratory messages flooded the internet, a man from Karnataka's Gadag district was detained for sharing an edited picture of Ram Mandir on social media.

Police said the picture that went viral on Facebook showed a Pakistani flag atop the Ram Mandir with 'Babri Masjid' written at the bottom.

Police arrested the man, identified as Tajuddin Dafedar, acting on the complaint of Hindu activists in Gadag.

The police also made the accused delete the post. Babasab Nemagoud, Superintendent of Police of Gadag, said, "He is a Gadag local. We will probe if he belongs to any organisation. We have taken him into custody."

During the interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that he saw the post on Facebook and accidentally shared it. Investigation is underway.
