Indian Army ramps up enforcements at the LAC; Army Chief's Ladakh visit amid PLA bridge construction

Both, the Indian and the Chinese armies have deployed identical amounts of troops along the 1500-KM long LAC

The Indian Army has deployed a large number of troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in East Ladakh. The move by the Army comes after the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) reportedly constructed a double-span bridge on the north banks of the lake Pangong Tso. On his first visit to Ladakh after assuming the post of Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande inspected the LAC deployments.

A Hindustan Times report said that General Pande though satisfied with the stationed troops at the LAC, took note of the excessive military upgradation being undertaken by the PLA in the Aksai Chin region. Both, the Indian and the Chinese armies have deployed identical amounts of troops along the 1500-KM long LAC.

Chinese armour and rocket regiments are stationed at Rudog base, south of Pangong Tso, and at Xiadullah in the Xinjiang military region. The PLA Air Force fighters and bombers are stationed across Demchok and Xinjiang. The alleged second bridge built over the Pangong Tso will allow faster deployment of troops for the Chinese, according to a military assessment report.

While on the other hand, the Indian Army is deployed at the LAC along roads that will aid in transporting armoured personnel carriers or tanks all the way till Daulet Beg Oldi. Seven bridges are coming up on the Galwan river to handle military emergencies.

At present, the militaries have only disengaged in the areas of Galwan Valley, the banks of Pangong Tso and the Gogra-Hot Springs region. The HT report citing sources stated that until the PLA does not restore the April 2020 status quo ante, New Delhi will not be going forward with normalising ties with Beijing.
