RajuBhai Karpada, a prominent farmer leader in Gujarat, has resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Following his resignation, AAP Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi acknowledged receiving Karpada’s resignation and highlighted his long-standing role in advocating for farmers’ rights.

Gadhvi said that while personal communication with Karpada has not yet taken place, he has consistently and firmly fought for farmers. “He always led a strong struggle on farmers’ issues.

In the agitation held at Haddad, thousands of farmers gathered, and a historic program was organized to abolish the price-cutting practice,” Gadhvi stated. He added that Karpada also opposed alleged corruption in APMCs across Gujarat.

The State President recalled that following the agitation, the BJP government reportedly carried out a lathi charge on farmers and farmer leaders, and false cases were filed against around 85 farmers and leaders, including RajuBhai and Pravin Ram, resulting in their detention.

“Despite this, the farmers and leaders remained firm and continued their struggle,” Gadhvi said. He also noted that the reasons behind Karpada’s resignation are currently unclear.

Gadhvi further highlighted the scale of AAP’s farmer outreach initiatives in Gujarat. He cited a large gathering in Sudamda, attended by AAP national leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, where more than 50,000 farmers participated. He said that following this, the BJP government announced a farmer relief package estimated at ₹10,000 crore.

Additionally, Gadhvi stated that AAP organized several ‘Kisan Mahapanchayats’ and ‘Kisan Nyay Panchayats’ across 13,000 villages in the state, collecting over 80,000 signatures in support of farmers’ issues, which were submitted to the Chief Minister.

Gadhvi emphasized that the party remains committed to farmers’ rights.

“BJP always tries to weaken farmer movements and intimidate AAP leaders. Even in jail, leaders and workers were subjected to atrocities. However, the trust of Gujarat’s farmers, laborers, and working class in the Aam Aadmi Party remains intact. Our struggle for farmers’ rights and justice will continue relentlessly,” he said.
