AAP holds 'Parivartan Sabha' in Gujarat's Jamnagar, raises civic issues

AAP leaders, including Isudan Gadhvi and local MLAs, highlighted water, road, drainage, healthcare, and education issues in Jamnagar during the “Parivartan Sabha,” urging public support for upcoming municipal elections.

AAP holds 'Parivartan Sabha' in Gujarat's Jamnagar, raises civic issues

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a “Parivartan Sabha” in Jamnagar, attended by AAP State President Isudan Gadhvi, Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia, Jamjodhpur MLA Hemant Khava, Saurashtra Zone In-charge Prakash Donga, Lok Sabha In-charge Raghubhai Ambaliya, and Jamnagar City President Rajendrasinh Sodha.

A large number of party workers, women, youth, and local residents were also present, marking a significant turnout.

Addressing the gathering, Isudan Gadhvi raised concerns over the functioning of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation. He said that despite having a budget of thousands of crores, residents continue to face issues related to drinking water, roads, and drainage.

He questioned how many English-medium government schools have been built in the city, alleging that government schools are being closed while private institutions are being promoted. He also highlighted inadequate healthcare access for poor and middle-income families.

Gadhvi further alleged that land grabbing is taking place in the name of development and that the benefits of such development are not reaching ordinary citizens.

He referred to the Visavadar assembly constituency, stating that despite campaigning by BJP leaders and ministers, voters elected Gopal Italia, and development work is taking place there under his leadership.

Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia said governance does not function according to public needs, with decision-making concentrated at the top. He cited delays in road repairs and claimed administrative responsiveness increases only during visits by senior leaders from Gandhinagar or Delhi.

Italia also referred to a letter reportedly written by five BJP MLAs from Vadodara to the Chief Minister, claiming officials do not respond even to them, implying that ordinary citizens face greater challenges. He appealed to voters to support AAP candidates in the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation elections.

Jamjodhpur MLA Hemant Khava said that problems for ordinary citizens have increased over the last 30 years. He pointed to a shortage of doctors at Arvind Hospital, considered the largest government hospital in Saurashtra, and said that Jamnagar lacks well-planned roads despite being a municipal corporation.

Referring to a recently constructed overbridge, Khava stated that there are perceptions it was built not for the public but to accommodate the Adani project, to prevent traffic issues related to it.

Khava said people are looking to AAP with hope and urged party workers to remain united, strengthen the organisation, and address issues faced by the smallest members of society in preparation for upcoming elections.
