Chandigarh, December 5 (PTI): The icy grip of winter has taken hold over Punjab and Haryana, with temperatures plummeting to bone-chilling lows across the two states. Faridkot in Punjab recorded the lowest minimum temperature at a mere 3 degrees Celsius on Friday. Chandigarh, which serves as the shared capital of both states, also endured a cold night, with the mercury dipping to 6.1 degrees Celsius, according to the local meteorological department. Bathinda in Punjab was not far behind, experiencing a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius. Amritsar registered a low of 5.8 degrees, while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded minimum temperatures of 5.6 and 5.8 degrees respectively. Meanwhile, Gurdaspur experienced 5.5 degrees and Ferozepur saw a low of 6.2 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest spot, with temperatures falling to 3.5 degrees Celsius. Not far behind, Hisar grappled with an intense chill, recording a minimum of 3.7 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in other parts of Haryana showed Karnal at 5.8 degrees, Ambala slightly warmer at 7.7 degrees, and both Rohtak and Bhiwani at 6 degrees. Sirsa recorded a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius.
