Bengaluru court asks Twitter to block Congress account for 'copyright violation'

The court passed the order after a complaint filed by MRT Music claiming that Congress had violated copyright by using songs from the film KGF-2 in one of the Bharat Jodo Yatra videos.

A Bengaluru court has asked Twitter to block the accounts of the Congress and its Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign for alleged copyright violations.

The court passed the order after a complaint filed by MRT Music claiming that Congress had violated copyright by using songs from the film KGF-2 in one of the Bharat Jodo Yatra videos.

MRT Music informed that court that it had paid a large amount of money to acquire music rights of KGF2 in Hindi.

A FIR was lodged against Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Supriya Shrinate at Yeshwanthpur Police Station based on the complaint.

The court ordered Twitter to remove three links to the video from the two handles and also asked the micro-blogging site to block the accounts.
