The number of deaths rose up to 11 in Uttar Pradesh as protests over the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and NRC turned violent on Friday, news agency PTI reported. The national death toll in the protests over the newly enacted law has gone up to 19 so far. Apart fro Friday's deaths, one person was killed in Lucknow on Thurday. Two people were also killed in Karnataka’s Mangalore on Thursday. Five deaths have been reported from Assam in the agitation so far. UP police said that they have arrested over 200 people for violence during protests on Friday.
