Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his government's farm reforms will create opportunities to turn farmers into entrepreneurs. Referring to high milk, sugar, and wheat production in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab, Modi said such models of local enterprise will take the country forward. He highlighted that the focus of his government is just not increasing productivity bust also boosting income of the farmers. Modi also listed measures taken by his government like implementing and increasing MSP, urea neem coating and better crop insurance to ‘do away with farmers’ worries’. The agri sector bills were passed amid high drama during the monsson session of the parliament and have met with staunch criticism with opposition parties holding rallies in protest.
