Amid the states' SOS to Centre on Covid vaccine shortage, an RTI reply has revealed a huge wastage of doses since India started vaccinations in mid-January, NDTV has reported.
Tamil Nadu reported the highest waste at 12.10 per cent. Haryana, Punjab, Manipur, and Telangana have reported high wastage between 7 and 10%.
Over 44 lakh doses were wasted, out of 10 crore doses used by states till April 11, revealed the RTI reply.
States that wasted the least are Kerala, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Goa, Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep. There was "zero wastage" of doses in these states, the RTI reply said.
