Prime Minister Narendra Modi met chief ministers of states and Union Territories to take stock of the Covid-19 situation and the vaccination drive in the country. PM Modi was administered the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS on Thursday.
Even with the world’s largest vaccination drive underway in India, there has been a resurgence of the disease in the country, with an alarming new wave of infections over the past two weeks. To make matters worse, several states in the country are complaining of vaccine shortage and poor quality of ventilators as hospitals once again get overwhelmed due to the mounting cases.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee skipped the meeting, while Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray attended the meet in spite of his govt being caught in a war of words with the Centre over vaccine shortages in the state.
