To ensure the law and order situation is not compromised, the Election Commission on Wednesday imposed prohibitory orders in Nandigram a day ahead of the high-profile battle in the constituency.
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure has been imposed and will remain in place till Friday midnight. Entry for non-voters of Nandigram has been prohibited and outside vehicles are not being allowed in.
22 companies of central forces are being deployed and a an auxiliary 22-personnel quick response team will be deployed on Thursday. The EC has also started air surveillance in the area.
All eyes are on Nandigram where Mamata Banerjee will face contest from her erstwhile protégé Suvendu Adhikari.
