Dastangoi Honors Guru Dutt at Kamani Auditorium

New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) An evening of dastangoi is set to honor the iconic filmmaker Guru Dutt through poetry, music, and storytelling at Kamani Auditorium on October 11.

The musical tribute, "Dastan-e-Guru Dutt", coincides with both his birth centenary and his death anniversary, taking place this Friday.

Written by Abbas Qamar, this unique dastan will be brought to life by Fouzia Dastango, renowned for her portrayals of figures like Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Krishna, and Ram.

Fouzia will be joined by singer Latika Jain, who will perform songs from Dutt’s films.

This presentation integrates Dutt’s life and artistic legacy with the traditional art of storytelling and music.

In a statement, Fouzia Dastango expressed, "Guru Dutt is not merely a name; he signifies an emotion, an eternal essence that captured profound human emotions through his cinema. With ‘Dastan-e-Gurudutt’, I aim to connect today’s generation with his life and artistry, ensuring his brilliance continues to illuminate the world."

Fouzia and Jain will offer a singular storytelling style, interweaving narrative with songs, either original compositions or pieces from Guru Dutt’s films.
