Chhattisgarh Elections 2023: did Amit Shah say BJP built first IIT, IIM and AIIMS in India? Viral video

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's speech during his recent campaign to poll-bound Chhattisgarh is circulating on the internet. He recently delivered a speech in Rajnandgaon city where he said that the transformation of Chhattisgarh took place under BJP's governance and under the leadership of former chief minister Raman Singh.

During his speech, Amit Shah claimed that the BJP was the first to make NIT, IIT, IIIT, IIM, AIIMS and Livelihood Colleges whereas CM Bhupesh did the work of running a '30 Taka Bhupesh Kaka' government for five years.

Soon after this, the clip of his speech went viral on the internet and several social media users called him out for stating wrong facts. However, some users pointed out that it might have been a slip of the tongue as Shah must have been talking about these institutions built in Chhattisgarh when the BJP was in power.

It is worth noting that the first IIT was built in 1950 and it was founded by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Whereas, first IIT in Chhattisgarh was inaugurated in 2016 under the leadership of then-chief minister Raman Singh.

Moreover, first, IIM and AIIMS were founded under the leadership of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Whereas, the first IIM, AIIMS in Chhattisgarh were built under the BJP government in the state.
