As Centre announced lifting of Covid-19 containment measures from March 31, many states decided to do away with masks along with provision of fines.

Delhi

The national capital reimposed the mask mandate as daily cases saw an uptick. The fine of ₹500 has also been imposed for not wearing mask.

Uttar Pradesh

Following a surge in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh ordered its NCR (National Capital Region) districts to bring back masking in public places. However, no fine has been imposed by the government.

Haryana

Following suit, Haryana also made masks mandatory again in four NCR districts. No mention of fine was made by state government.

Punjab

Punjab has also made masks mandatory again but not imposed a penalty

Telangana

The state reintroduced compulsory use of masks after cases started rising again. A fine of ₹1000 will also be slapped if found without a mask.

Tamil Nadu

The state government made wearing masks compulsory. A ₹500 fine will be imposed for violation

Andhra Pradesh

A ₹100 penalty will be imposed in case someone is found without a mask.

Karnataka and Chhattisgarh have also announced mask mandates but official notices do not mention any fine.
