Burman family dismisses allegations as Dabur chiefs face Mahadev betting app scam charges

A new development has emerged in the ongoing Mahadev betting app controversy, with Dabur Group chairman Mohit V Burman and Director Gaurav V Burman finding themselves named among 32 others in the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Mumbai Police. The FIR, registered on November 8, includes notable names such as Bollywood actor Sahil Khan, linking them to an alleged fraud dating back to 2019, totalling an estimated ₹15,000 crore.

The case, filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act, primarily targets app promoter Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, Shubham Soni, and several others for their involvement in the purported scam.

However, the Burman family has vehemently refuted these accusations. A spokesperson representing the family labelled the FIR a 'mischievous act' driven by malicious intent. Speaking to CNBC TV-18, the Dabur spokesperson stated, "We have not received any communication on any such FIR. If this information is indeed true, it appears to be a mischievous act driven by malicious intent and is devoid of any facts."

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is actively investigating the Mahadev Book Online Betting APP syndicate, alleging its promoters operate thousands of panels remotely across India. The ED has made significant progress in this probe, having already arrested four individuals and seized proceeds worth over ₹450 crore. Furthermore, the ED has lodged a prosecution complaint against 14 accused persons.
