With the nationwide lockdown extended till 3rd May by the government, the prospect of having the 13th edition of the IPL seems to be almost impossible. The World's premier T20 league was scheduled to start from 29th March but The BCCI is reportedly contemplating of having a shortened IPL season before the World T20 in October which could also act as a warm up tournament before the mega event. Interestingly, Rs. 4000 crore a year deal between the broadcaster and the BCCI is what pushing the richest cricket board to find alternate dates but with a busy international calendar it looks like the BCCI will prefer hosting the IPL first. According to a senior BCCI member, the board will push the ICC to cancel one or two International tours to host the IPL as it generates revenue for not just the BCCI but also for the ICC. IPL, remember is the only domestic cricket tournament which features in ICC's Future tours programme.
