As feared, rain proved to be a wet blanket in Southampton as Day 1 of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand was abandoned without a single ball bowled.

Showers continued throughout the day, not letting the groundsmen try and dry up the outfield. Though rain is expected on Day 2 as well, but some play might be possible. Interestingly, ICC has kept a reserve 6th day for the summit clash, which now will come into play.
