Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's high-profile visit to the United States of America, the Mayor of New York City announced that the Hindu festival of Diwali would soon be declared a school holiday.
Mayor Eric Adams on June 26 said that he was proud to have stood with the Indian-American community to make Diwali a school holiday.
State lawmakers recently cleared the legislation, but it still has to be signed into law by the Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, as per news agency ANI.
