California has moved one step closer to becoming the first US state to ban Hindu caste discrimination.
The California State Senate on May 11, 2023, passed legislation to add caste as a protected category in its anti-discrimination laws.
A similar bill is reportedly being introduced in the State House of Representatives.
Once passed there, it will be sent to the Governor of California to be signed into law.
