The United States has asked non-emergency government personnel in its embassies in Iraq's Baghdad and Erbil to leave citing increased security threats.

The US State Department also issued a travel advisory warning Americans against travelling to Iraq due to terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict, civil unrest, and Mission Iraq’s limited capacity to provide support to them.

This comes amid an increase in attacks against US forces in Iraq by militant groups since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out.

Last week, three drones that attacked US military bases in Iraq were shot down. One of the drones had caused injuries to the allied forces.
