Former US President Donald Trump’s list of possible running mates did not include Indian-origin Vivek Ramaswamy, who was once considered a front-runner in the upcoming presidential elections.

As per Bloomberg, the leading GOP candidate may assign a cabinet portfolio to Ramaswamy due to his ‘strong public speaking skills.’

While Ramaswamy may not become Trump’s deputy, he is being considered to head the Department of Homeland Security if the former president wins.

Donald Trump had previously said that biotech entrepreneur-turned-politician is being considered as a possible running mate.

Ramaswamy suspended his 2024 presidential campaign following his poor showing in the Iowa caucuses and backed Trump as the former US president sought to reclaim the White House in November.

At 38, Ramaswamy was the youngest candidate running for the 2024 Republican Party's presidential nomination. The biotech entrepreneur was a distant fourth with 7.7% of the votes polled in the caucus.
