UK govt reacts to Indian flag being pulled down at High Commission in London

After a strong rebuke from the Indian government over the pulling down of the tricolour at the Indian High Commission in London, UK authorities said that they will take the diplomatic mission's security "seriously", as per news agency PTI.

The Indian flag was pulled down by a mob holding Khalistan flags on 19 March 2023. One person was arrested, as per reports.

Foreign Office minister Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon said he was "appalled" and the government would take the security of the Indian High Commission "seriously".

London mayor Sadiq Khan condemned "the violent disorder and vandalism". British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis described the incident as "disgraceful" and "totally unacceptable".
