Peshawar, Nov 6 (PTI) - A high-value commander from the banned terrorist organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed during a joint operation carried out with the Counter Terrorism Department in the turbulent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Police announced the successful operation on Thursday. The intelligence-driven operation, which took place in Karak's Amberi Kalla area in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, escalated into an intense gunfight lasting nearly four hours. Hakeem Nisar, the TTP commander, was neutralized in the encounter. Three police personnel were injured in the exchange of gunfire and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have described Hakeem Nisar as a high-value target linked to numerous terrorist activities, including assaults on security forces and targeted killings within the region. After the conclusion of the operation, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to ensure no other terrorists were present. The operation underscores the ongoing struggle against terrorism in the region.
