Lahore, Sep 24 — In a tragic case involving the tragic consequences of video game obsession, a Pakistani court has sentenced a teenager to 100 years in prison for the murders of his family members. The sentencing occurred on Wednesday when the Additional Sessions Judge of Lahore, Riaz Ahmed, found 17-year-old Zain Ali guilty of killing his mother, brother, and two sisters in a violent outburst following a dispute over playing the online game, PubG. The incident took place in 2022.

The court ordered Ali to serve four life sentences, totaling 25 years for each murder, and imposed a fine of 4 million Pakistani Rupees. The judgment was based on the evidence and testimonies presented by the prosecution.

According to court officials, despite his young age, Ali's crimes warranted severe punishment. At the time of the incident, Ali was just 14 years old and had developed an intense obsession with PubG, spending excessive hours in isolation. His mother, Nahid Mubarak, frequently reprimanded him for his excessive gaming habits. This tension reached a boiling point on the day of the tragic event.

Police reports indicate that after failing to reach a target in the game and being admonished by his mother, Ali snapped and fatally shot his family members. Armed with his mother’s pistol, Ali killed his mother, 45, his brother Taimur, 20, and his sisters Mahnoor, 15, and Jannat, 10, while they were asleep. The conviction of Ali was supported by his own confession as well.
