South Korea: passenger who opened plane's emergency door mid-air was 'stressed after losing job'

The passenger on the Asiana Airlines who was arrested for allegedly opening the emergency door of a plane minutes before it landed in South Korea told police he opened the door because he was 'uncomfortable' and 'wanted to get off the plane quickly', according to media reports.  

He also told police he was stressed after losing his job recently.

In a shocking incident in South Korea, the emergency door of a plane was opened while it was airborne on May 26, 2023.

Videos shared on social media showed passengers being buffeted by strong winds. 

The Asiana Airlines flight had 194 passengers, and all survived the incident. However, some were taken to hospital with breathing problems.
