Lahore, July 16 (PTI) — In the past 24 hours, at least 24 individuals have lost their lives and over 150 have sustained injuries due to rain-related incidents in Punjab province, with the cumulative death toll now reaching 140 across Pakistan this monsoon season, according to an official statement on Wednesday. Intermittent rain persisted throughout the night in Lahore and numerous other districts in Punjab, and officials expect the current weather conditions to prevail until Thursday. “In Lahore, 12 individuals perished in three separate incidents of roof collapse triggered by a thunderstorm during the night, including five from the same family, among them young girls, in the Thokar Niaz Baig area,” stated a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 of Punjab. Three fatalities were reported in Faisalabad, and in Pakpattan, a woman and two children were among those killed.
