US prosecutors have reportedly submitted a sealed document in court against at least 'one perpetrator' for allegedly plotting to kill a Khalistani leader on American soil. Financial Times reported that an indictment has been filed in a New York district court.

The report added that US officials had also issued a warning to India in June over concerns of its involvement in the plot.

US Department of Justice is contemplating whether to unseal the document and make the allegations public or wait until Canada finishes its investigation into the murder of Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The Financial Times report quoted 'people familiar with the proceedings' as saying that one person charged in the indictment is believed to have left the US.
