With Pakistan police failing to arrest former Prime Minister Imran Khan on 14 March 2023, and clashes with his supporters continuing a day later, a heavy contingent of Punjab Rangers joined the cops to bolster their ranks.

Punjab Rangers joined police personnel near Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore ahead of a fresh attempt to arrest him in the high-profile Toshakhana case on 15 March.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan tweeted that the "real intent" of the authorities is to "abduct and assassinate" as cops have started resorting to live firing. On the deployment of Punjab Rangers, Khan said that this is what the enemies of Pakistan want.
