In a bizarre incident, a Portugal town saw about 2.2 million litres of red wine flow through its street last week. The river of wine was enough to fill an Olympic-size swimming pool, as per the New York Post.
The Red River originated from a local distillery, where wine-filled tanks reportedly burst open. The gushing wine was diverted to a nearby field, preventing it from mixing into the Certima River.
The Levira Distillery, the source of the wine, later apologised for the incident. “We assume full responsibility for the costs associated with cleaning and repairing the damage, having teams do so immediately,” the management said, as per the New York Post.
