On cam: meteor lights up Australian sky, then crashes into ground

Australians on May 20, 2023, witnessed a sight which could be mistaken for a scene from a movie.

A meteor lit up the sky over Queensland before appearing to crash into the ground. It was captured on video by a security camera at Cairns Airport.

Scientists said that the meteor was probably 0.5 to 1 metre in size, and travelling at a speed of up to 1.5 lakh kilometres per hour.

It lit the sky blue and green before a fiery crash.
