In an unsual incident, passengers of a New Zealand-bound Emirates flight which took off from Dubai found themselves back at the same airport after flying for over 13 hours.

According to BBC, the plane landed back at the same airport due to severe flooding at the arrival airport in Auckland. The pilot made a U-turn just over halfway through the trip and returned to Dubai airport on January 28.

Auckland airport authorities resumed flight operations later on January 29, after remaining closed for international flights during the weekend due to massive downpour.

The viral videos from Auckland airport shows it immersed in water, with passengers sitting in the middle of a flooding-prompted pool.
