Kathmandu, Sep 9 (PTI) The Nepal Army urged protesters to remain calm and uphold national unity while pledging to safeguard the nation's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
"We are analyzing the latest developments of the Gen Z movement," the Nepal Army said in a statement.
"The Nepal Army is steadfast in its commitment to protect the interests and security of the Nepalese people," the statement noted, expressing dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens amid ongoing circumstances.
The military called on "all youth and countrymen to stay calm and maintain social harmony and national unity to prevent further deterioration of the current situation."
The statement emphasized that all Nepalese have a duty to preserve and protect the country's historical, cultural, archaeological, and national assets during these critical times.
This appeal follows incidents where protesters set fire to the parliament, Singha Durbar premises, Supreme Court, political party offices, and residences of senior leaders.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned on Tuesday after a large group of protesters entered his office, chanting slogans for his resignation following the death of at least 19 individuals in police action during Monday's protests, officials reported.
