Websites of the President, Foreign Ministry & Tourism Ministry of Maldives remained unreachable for several hours on January 6, 2024.

Local media said the websites went down and were inaccessible in a suspected cyber attack.

The President's office on X posted that their websites were facing unexpected technical disruption.

'Please note that the President’s Office website is currently facing an unexpected technical disruption. NCIT and other relevant entities are actively working on resolving this promptly. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding and patience'.

Following the temporary disruption, the three Maldivian government websites have now started working again, local reports said.

The suspected cyber attacks come two days before the newly appointed Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to visit China from January 8-12.
