Argentine football player Lionel Messi has slapped $55,000 compensation on the environmental activists who vandalised his Ibiza house on August 6.

The spokesman for the environmental group Bilbo Bassaterra released a statement on August 16 saying, "This is water-based paint, so it can be washed off with a hosepipe, at most you’ll have to rub a little. But even in the worst case scenario, even if the wall had to be repainted, it doesn’t cost 50,000 euros."

In the video of the vandalisation, two protesters were seen spraying red paint on the walls of Messi's house and carrying a banner.
