LAHORE, July 7 (AP)
Owners of a pet lion that escaped and injured a woman along with her two children in Lahore have been arrested, according to authorities on Sunday.
Dramatic video footage captured the lion jumping over a wall and attacking the victims in a residential area. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the lion broke out from its cage. The woman, along with her children aged 5 and 7, suffered injuries to their faces and arms, stated police official Faisal Kamran.
A police report revealed that the children's father accused the lion's owners of merely watching the attack unfold without making any effort to stop the animal. Subsequently, the lion returned to the owners' farmhouse and was relocated to a wildlife park, authorities confirmed.
For some wealthy individuals in Pakistan, keeping exotic pets like lions is a status symbol, despite heavy regulations and exorbitant fees associated with such ownership. (AP)
