Paris, Jun 12 (PTI) - External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday in Paris, expressing gratitude for France's firm support in combating terrorism.
Jaishankar is currently engaged in a three-nation European tour aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and reinforcing India's zero-tolerance stance against terrorism. This comes in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.
“Honored to meet President Emmanuel Macron of France. I conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked him for France's robust support in the fight against terrorism,” Jaishankar shared in a post on X following their meeting.
He further noted, “Our discussions demonstrated the confidence, compatibility, and ambitions driving our Strategic Partnership.”
Prior to his visit to Paris, Jaishankar was in Brussels on Wednesday, where he engaged with key European Union leaders to explore avenues for bolstering the EU-India strategic alliance.
The Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 fatalities, led India to conduct precision strikes on May 7 against terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
