Israeli Archeologist Dead; Elite Golan Brigade Chief Wounded As 2 Hezbollah Fighters Ambush IDF In Leban

Israeli archeologist, IDF soldier dead as Hezbollah fighters ambushed them. Golani Brigade chief of staff and company commander also injured in the attack. Sgt. Gur Kehati of the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion was also killed. 71-year-old archeologist had entered Lebanon without permission: report. The archeologist had entered south Lebanon along with IDF officers. Golani Brigade chief Yoav Yarom gave the Zeev Erlich the nod to enter Lebanon. Zeev wanted to examine an archaeological site — an ancient fortress. Golani Brigade’s chief who was with Zeev was also wounded in the gun-battle. A company commander with the Golani Brigade was also seriously wounded. Despite not being a soldier, Zeev entered Lebanon while armed & in IDF uniform. IDF believed the site, which is in ruins had been cleared of Hezbollah's presence. 2 hiding Hezbollah fighters opened fire at the embedded researcher, IDF officers. IDF retroactively recognized Zeev as a Major, despite him not being on active duty. Zeev’s entry to southern Lebanon is under investigation by the IDF: Hebrew media.
