Citing a Hamas source, the Chinese state news agency Xinhua has reported that Qatar is mediating a prisoner swap.
The Hamas source told the Chinese news outlet that with US support, Qatar is seeking to accomplish an urgent agreement that would lead to the release of Israeli women captured by the militant group in exchange for Palestinian female prisoners in Israeli prisons.
The news agency said that Hamas has informed Qatar that it does not object to a prisoner exchange deal.
