The opening of the winter session of Knesset was briefly halted after a major rocket barrage was targeted towards Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the Times of Israel reported.

Videos doing rounds on social media show the sudden rocket salvo at Jerusalem sparking panic and sending the attendees to bomb shelters.

The session was resumed after 40 minutes, the outlet added.

Speaking at the first session, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hezbollah militants in Lebanon and their Iranian backers that they will pay a high price if they become involved in the war.
