Israel-Gaza war: S Jaishankar speaks to Palestinian PM Mohmmad Shtayyeh

External affairs minister S Jaishankar held a conversation with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohmmad Shtayyeh, and reiterated India's ‘long-standing position’ on the Palestine-Israel issue, he said on X on 9 December 2023.

Palestinian Prime Minister expressed deep concern on the situation in Gaza and West Bank, the post on X said.

Earlier in October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the President of the Palestinian Authority and expressed his condolences over the loss of lives at Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza.

"India has always advocated the resumption of direct negotiations towards establishing a
sovereign, independent and viable state of Palestine living within secure and recognised borders side by side at peace with Israel. That position remains the same.", Ministry of External Affairs
spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a press briefing on October 12.
