Ahead of the expected ground attack, Israel’s military forces on October 23 launched limited raids into the Gaza Strip overnight to fight Hamas fighters, Reuters reported.

As per the media outlet, the airstrikes have targeted the sites where Hamas is believed to be assembling to attack any wider Israeli invasion.

Citing IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari, Reuters said, the Israeli military had carried out strikes to eliminate 20 Hezbollah cells in southern Lebanon since the war broke out.

The officer also confirmed that 222 people are held in captivity in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 invasion. The hostages also include significant numbers of foreigners.
