United Nations, Jun 23 (AP) — Iran has accused the United States of demolishing diplomatic efforts with its attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, and has stated that its military will determine the "timing, nature, and scale" of an appropriate response. During an emergency UN Security Council meeting convened following the U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, Iran's UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani expressed grave concerns. He stated that Iran had repeatedly cautioned the "warmongering US regime" against engaging in such provocations. Iravani lashed out at the U.S., accusing it of abandoning diplomacy and alleged that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu influenced President Donald Trump to align U.S. actions with Israeli interests, thereby entangling the U.S. in "another costly and unfounded conflict." The Iranian envoy condemned the military actions by the U.S. and Israel as "a clear and blatant breach of international law." Citing recent discussions between Iran's foreign minister and several European leaders, Iravani criticized the U.S. for undermining diplomatic channels. He posed a rhetorical question, emphasizing the irony of calls for Iran to "return to the negotiating table"—a dialogue Iran insists it never left.
