Beijing, Aug 15 (PTI) — On Friday, Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India by hoisting the tricolour at the Indian Embassy in Beijing.
The event was marked by vibrant festivities and witnessed the participation of a significant number of members from the Indian diaspora.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, Ambassador Rawat shared excerpts from President Droupadi Murmu's address, which was followed by cultural performances.
Among those attending was Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Vice President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
In a parallel celebration in Shanghai, Indian Consul General Pratik Mathur raised the tricolour at the consulate's premises.
This gathering drew over 200 Indian nationals residing in the areas of Shanghai Municipality, as well as the Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.
The consulate's event also welcomed distinguished guests, community leaders, friends of India from the local Chinese community, and members of the diplomatic corps, according to a press release.
