Kathmandu, Oct 22 (PTI) — India has gifted 81 school buses to various educational institutions in Nepal, extending its support to districts, particularly those recently affected by disasters, like the Koshi province.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, in its statement, highlighted that the donations are a reflection of the "long-standing development partnership and friendship" shared between India and Nepal.
These school buses have been distributed across 48 districts in Nepal, including the disaster-hit areas of Ilam, Jhapa, and Udayapur.
Recently, these regions suffered significant devastation due to landslides and floods, a result of torrential rains that claimed many lives.
Furthermore, the donation encompasses remote districts such as Humla, Mustang, Sankhuwasabha, Darchula, Baitadi, and Achham.
According to the Indian Embassy, over the past three decades, India has donated a total of 381 school buses to various educational institutions throughout Nepal.
"The school buses play a crucial role in providing students, especially in far-flung areas, with a safe and economical means to commute to school," the statement added.
